Welcome to Nuanced Newborns!

Hi! I am Morgan, a pediatric nurse of 14 years, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for the last 9 years and a mom to three beautiful littles who drive me crazy and make my world go round at the same time. I am launching this little project as extension of my passion for children and to educate parents about the nuances of the early years of childhood. As a parent myself, I know that life is hectic and stressful and your kids are probably your number ONE source of worry. Are they okay? And how do you keep them that way? What is normal? What isn’t? That is where I come in!

In my years of practice, I have seen countless primary care office visits and emergency room visits for parent concerns that could largely have been avoided with proper education. While pediatrician offices have been slammed since the onset of the pandemic, my goal for this page is to educate parents on everyday topics regarding their newborns and kids in early childhood. A huge part of my current job is to educate families about what is considered normal in the newborn period and what needs medical attention. While I am not here to provide medical advice, and you should see your pediatric provider if you have a concern about your child, I am here to give you the benefit of my years of experience caring for children and educating their parents.

I am here as a resource and hope you will jump in with me on this journey to join with you in community. As parents, I know you care about your children more than words can express and I want you to know you are doing a great job! Some things I plan to discuss here include jaundice, infant skin issues, 24 hour hospital screenings and colic, just to name a few. I would love your input about topics that you want to discuss and things you would like to see here over the next few months.

You can find me on instagram @nuanced_newborns and drop a comment on any post about things you want to learn about! Here is to new beginnings!
